lichwitz trocar and canula
(click on the photo to enlarge it) trocar and the canula are used in ent to make an opening for the sinus say maxillary sinus…. tip of the trocar is sharp , and it is applied through cannular (from the inside of the nose) and it then open into the maxillary sinus, then trocar is taken out of the cannula while keeping canula in place,, then the sinus may be irrigated with normal saline, or the pucc in the sinus may be sucked out.
the puss may be sent then for culture and sensitivity for proper antibiotic selection for the t/m of the patient.
