Leaking Pencil Cell Could be dangerous !

Pencil cells were once called pencil cells too commonly , since they were mostly usef only in pencil torch lights . And the size it mostly referred to was AA.   The blogpost targets how pencil cells that leak could be dangerous ! Cells contain electrolytes tht may leak through the seals of the cell or through its corroded walls. Not all the cells leak . Cheap cells mostly do. However , its not necessarily true that an expensive cell can never leak. The point is , its expensive necause the manufacturer has taken into account all the hazards related to the product, leaking of cell is one of those. Such brands like Toshiba cells , have additional metallic covering , so that just in case the cell leaks , the additional covering keeps electrolyte in bounds and it does not spill into the device's battery box. Cells may leak when they reach their expiry time. But it is not the rule. Cells may leak whether they are in use or not. If they are in use , that is , they are in the battery box of some device say, a torch or a pocket radio , etc , the leaky electrolyte also corrodes the metal terminals in the device. And this may render the device useless. Important TIP is that , the devices which work on cells , when not in use , the cells should be taken out of them. This not only saves the device from the leaking danger of cells, but may also increase the cell life , since most electronic devices drain the cells even if they are switched off.
