Solar Panel to directly power appliances without the use of battery

Solar panels can be used to directly power electric appliances, like for instance, solar panels of 16 volt peak output be connected in parallel  sso that he voltage remains 16 V and the current adds up, such  combination could be used to power up an 12-14 volts fan direcltly and running at good speed if solar panels have adequate light falling on them Likewise, if solar panels of 16 volts are connected in series to add up their voltages to bring net voltage to 240 volts , and then few panels be connected in parallel to them to add up more current to the circuit, the whole power generated could be used to turn on a 240 volts DC appliance (or even a 240 AC appliance as i had experience since the solar cells voltage is alternating in one sense that light intensity falling on it is very speedily variable ).

But,

There are many reasonable points against the above discussion. No doubt the discussion above is based on experimental facts by me, but other facts need to taken into discussion, too. The voltage by solar panels fluctuates too much. It could be 16 volts in one reading on a multimeter, and the very next instant if there is little increase in light intensity falling on it it could goto 18 volts. Such voltage changes may either completely BURN you appliance, or reduce its life span !

Also, if there is decrease in light intensity falling on the panel, the voltage may drop considerably and your digital appliance will shutdown and if it were analogue appliance it would give reduced output .

Using solar panels with battery with a POWER regulator between the two is therefore an ideal way of harnessing solar power . The power regulator keeps voltage in certain limits and also shuts down battery charging if its fully charged.

But its costly setup, batteries do not have much life and they re so expensive.

In my opinion ,

all of this i-e harnessing solar power, will be very cheap if there are home-built battery making solutions provided by companies and that our appliances (lights/fans/lcds/etc) have 12 Volt working features, so that the power lost in stepping up(to run appliances) by inverter is cut off.
