Transcutaneous Bilirubin measurements device

Transcutaneous bilirubin measurements , specifically in the Newborns, to rule out jaundice neonatorum requiring Phototherapy are in vogue these days in developed countries , however, in Pakistan the only method in use is Blood sampling by venipuncture and bilirubin measurement by chemical analysis(the serum bilirubin measurements).
Following , the picture is a device by Philips with the name of BiliCheck that measures transcutaenous bilirubin levels.

Many studies have been done to explain and countdown False negative results by BiliCheK from philips respironics, and also comparing it with other Transcutaneous measurement devices. The results, if not very strongly supportive of solely relying on transcutaneous measurement of bilirubin, do atleast recommend their use in clinical practice, since the other widely employed method of Serum Bilirubin measurement has also got its own drawbacks and result errors.
